Encompass is replacing 6:8 Circles Sauk Prairie as our main Poverty Alleviation Programing on Monday evenings.
Encompass is a transformative program dedicated to guiding individuals from financial and personal instability to lasting self-sufficiency and interdependence. Through weekly meetings where dinner and programming is provided for all ages, participants are given space to think, dream and implement their personally chosen M.A.P. (My Action Plan including their budget, SMARTer Goals, and more). These folks are provided accountability, support and encouragement on their journey by intentional, mission aligned facilitators, staff and volunteers. This life-changing program is designed to support a person wherever they are at, and is driven by three main aspects of the program:
1. Encompass Small Group
Encompass Small Groups offer a simple entry point that can benefit EVERY person. This SMARTer Goal and Accountability group is designed to encourage, engage, and equip others to believe in the possibilities for their future! Led by trained facilitators, group participants spend a portion of their time discussing a short lesson about finance, executive function, mental or physical health, or living spaces. Then, we discuss the progress on the goal we set at the previous week’s meeting, as well as set a new, small SMARTer goal to reach for the following Monday. These goals tie into each individual’s overarching SMARTer goal – start using a budget, get a new job, learn to meal plan, or even move into the more vigorous and focused Encompass program component, “Encompass Teams”. There are a myriad of other wonderful choices program participants can make that lead to lasting self-sufficiency and interdependence!
2. Encompass Teams
When a person has the time, emotional, and physical capacity to hit the ground running, often the Encompass Teams is the best fit for them! Encompass Team participants are able to make big life progress by being carefully and thoughtfully paired with financially stable volunteers. These volunteers are mission aligned and build intentional, meaningful, long-term friendships. These supportive relationships are key to empowering individuals as they work hard toward their goals and achieve greater stability. Encompass Teams meet at 6:8 every Monday evening, collaboratively setting and working toward SMARTer goals while providing mutual accountability.
3. Learning for Life Classes
Offered on a rotating schedule on Monday nights, our classes aim to improve a variety of skillsets such as Budgeting, SMARTer Goals, Communication, and more! These classes are open to all participants of Encompass, and are also available for anyone in the community to participate in to deepen their knowledge! A number of these classes also serve as prerequisite training for future Encompass Team participants.
4. Community Impact Team
All Encompass participants (Teams and Small Group) have access to a Community Impact Team. When life happens (and it sure does!) and a car breaks down, a living space needs a repair, they need help doing taxes or finding the most appropriate education for their needs, this team of community volunteers offers additional wrap-around support.
The Encompass community fosters significant growth and strengthening for everyone involved, volunteers and participants alike!
