Honoring Our Elders

Companionship and Spiritual Care

for Sauk Prairie Elders

Honoring Our Elders has had a fantastic first year! We have provided a companioning/ spiritual care presence at Maplewood/ Maplewood Village and Pines/Pine Glen/Pine Villa senior residences, the Senior Dining Center (at Sauk Prairie Community Center), and with seniors living in their own homes in our community. We have offered 1:1 visits with elders, a variety of spiritual programs, retreats for seniors and for caregivers, a monthly presentation/discussion series open to all seniors in Sauk Prairie, several presentations to community groups— and more! We are so grateful to have been welcomed into facilities and homes as we support, celebrate, and honor our elders!

Watch for more exciting developments! We are in transition: our program director and chaplain—Shirley Kelter—recently accepted a full-time chaplain position at UW Hospital, and will continue as a volunteer with 6:8 and Honoring Our Elders. She has been gathering a group of dedicated people who are dreamers and workers and are passionate about the elderly— to guide Honoring Our Elders volunteers in existing activities and grow our outreach efforts. We will be inviting people to Make Service Personal by volunteering in a variety of roles serving our elderly, so stay tuned! If you would like to get involved please contact 6:8 at:
